Problematic Question

Should parents be allowed to sell their babies for money?

  1. I do not like the idea of selling babies for money. I do not think it is fair to the child, and it is hard for people who are adopted to understand why their parents gave them away. Just think of what the child would go through if they found out that their parents sold them.

That out of the way I do understand the reasons why someone would want to sell their baby. They spent the time to carry the baby and give birth to him or her. Some time during all of this I guess they decided they did not want to care for the baby, or could not care for the baby after they give birth to it. But, they do not want to give the baby away, they want something in return for all of their trouble. Maybe the parents have some financial problems, and they decide this is the best way for both them and the baby. The baby gets a new home, and they can hopefully pay off their bill or something to that extent.

Others will argue that you should never sell another life, for any reason. Some may even consider it a form of slavery in the way that you are selling your baby, making him or her the property of someone else. Other people may think that parents who sell their baby for money, are just giving up on the child. But then people think that when parents give their child up for adoption as well. Even though the parents may just not have the means to care for the child.

Make of it what you will. Like I said I do not really like the idea of selling babies for money. I see where there may be a need for such a thing. But, I just do not think selling the baby is the best way to handle the situation.
